Universal Studios Florida
is a theme
park in Orlando,
Florida,
part of the Universal
Orlando Resort. The park, which opened in 1990,
lets visitors "Ride the Movies." It offers many
shows and rides, along with countless other things for
guests to see and do. Universal Studios Florida, its sister
theme park Islands
of Adventure, a nightclub/shopping venue CityWalk,
and several on-site hotels combine to make a complete
vacation destination.
Like most major theme parks,
Universal Studios Florida plays host to many special events
throughout the year. These include: Macy's Holiday Parade
from December to early January, Mardi Gras celebration from
February to April and the very popular Halloween
Horror Nights in the fall.
Express
Pass
Both Universal Orlando parks
use a line skipping system called "Universal Express
Plus Pass". This system allow people who pay an
additional fee (the fee varies based on the time of year and
can be as much as $50 a day) to use a separate, shorter line
for all the rides at the parks. The "express pass"
lines were often 20 minutes or less on rides where the
normal line was over an hour. People who buy the pass get to
skip in line once per ride. People who stay in the three
hotel affiliated with Universal can use their room keys as
"express pass" that allows unlimited uses of the
faster line for each ride. There are a limited number of
"express passes" available each day and they are
often sold out in advance.
